Dr. John H. White
Human Resources/Technical Development

John H. White is President of TechWrite, Inc. which provides technical writing, grant writing, grant administration, institutional effectiveness, and development of distance learning programs and services to colleges, universities, school districts, companies, agencies, and organizations nationally. Prior to founding TechWrite, Dr. White was Interim President and Dean of Instruction at Reid State Technical College and served as Vice President of Pellette and Associates that provided technical writing services to the nuclear power industry. Also, Dr. White served as director of Professional Development with The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) in New York, New York.

As a technical writer, Dr. White has developed policy and procedure manuals, job descriptions, training manuals, statistical analysis reports, position papers, records management procedures, and numerous grant proposals. Recently, Dr. White has written many competitive grant applications that have secured over $20 million in external funds from federal, state, and private foundations for several clients. Also, Dr. White has recently completed a book titled From Research to Printout: Creating Effective Technical Documents which is being sold internationally.

In the area of distance learning, Dr. White has developed Internet-based distance learning courses and developed an application for a client that was selected as one of 15 Distance Education Demonstration Projects under the U. S. Department of Education. Additionally, Dr. White has designed several projects to provide distance learning services by colleges and universities to close to 20 rural high schools. These projects include Internet-based programs and services and fully interactive, full motion videoconferencing classroom systems. Also, Dr. White is serving as the training and education consultant to the National Association of Elevator Contractors and Elevator World assisting in the development of the Certified Elevator Technician (CET) program. As a part of this Project, Dr. White has two book: (1) NAEC CET Supervisor Training Manual: Providing Support to the CET and the CET Sponsoring Company (April 2002 Edition and 2005 Edition), and (2) NAEC CAT Supervisor Training Manual: Providing Support to the CAT and the CAT Sponsoring Company (April 2004).

During the past seven years Dr. White served as a contractor for a major distance learning university offering bachelor, master, master of divinity, doctor of divinity, and doctor of philosophy degrees. Assigned responsibilities consisted of conducting research and studies associated with institutional effectiveness initiatives and working closely with administrators, faculty, and staff on issues associated with accreditation. Served as the Team Leader for the University’s accreditation reaffirmation efforts which culminated with only 10 minor recommendations for improvement with final reaffirmation awarded in December 2005 at the Annual Meeting of Commission on Colleges (COC) of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Also, a sampling of recent studies and reports includes accreditation Prospectuses for authorization to implement two new Ph. D. programs (i.e., Biblical Studies and Family Therapy), as well as three bachelor degrees associated with business administration in information communication, management information systems, and general business. Also, Dr. White was responsible for the development and submission of license applications to two commissions of higher education for state licenses to open and operate a university in Tennessee and Arizona. Additional duties have included assisting with library automation and improvement efforts, developing web-based applications, infusion of leading-edge technologies into the instructional programs, and serving as a member of the University’s Policy Review Team and the Chair of the Executive Leadership Team.

Through his services, Dr. White has provided technical writing and training services to some of the world's leading corporations and organizations. A sampling of these corporations and organizations includes Louisiana Power and Light (LP&L), NASA Kennedy Space Center, Scott Paper Company, Lumpkin & Associates, National Association of Elevator Contractors, Alabama Southern Community College, Teledyne Brown Engineering, Westinghouse, Emprise Designs, US Navy, Durr Drug Company, John M. Patterson State Technical College, The ACCESS Group, Georgia Pacific Corporation, James River Corporation, Troy State University, Japanese Society of Mechanical Engineers, Elevator World, Monsanto, AT&T Alliance, and the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Dr White's earned degrees include a Doctor of Education and a Master of Education, both from Columbia University, a Master of Arts from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a Bachelor of Arts from Alma College, and an Associate of Arts from Macomb County Community College. Also, Dr. White has attended the University of Hawaii, Leeward Community College (Pearl City, Hawaii), and Central Michigan University.

Dr. White's professional certificates and licenses include a Superintendent-Principal Certificate and a Teaching Certificate in history from Alabama, a New York State School District Administrator Certificate (Permanent), and a United States Merchant Marine License with Electrician's Endorsement. Finally, Dr. White served in the U.S. Navy, served a tour in Vietnam, and is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
